Our own distribution place in the city

When it comes to the distribution and advertising of farm products, small farmers are again totaly dependend on the traders in between who buy their products and sell them to the markets and stores. If you buy a product for 50 Peso in a supermarket store in the city, only about 5-8 pesos go to the farmer himself. Because of that, we want to find new and easier ways of distribution that leave more profit to the farmers.  First step is the planning and organization of planting. In order to be able to harvest during the time when market prices are high and good profits possible, proper timing is most important. Another important measure is to diversify the farming concept by producing different sorts of products and seeding at different times. This distributes all risks equally and makes sure that in the case of problems other viable alternatives are always at hand. Several sorts of vegetables are delivered from several hundreds of kilometers away in big trucks each day. In order to conserve these vegetables for a long transport track companies treat them all with large quantities of conserving chemicals. These, of course, are not to be considered products of high quality, despite the fact that they remain products with a high price to pay for.  This is one reason among others why the local population is in favor of locally produced goods, when they are available on the market.

Because our farm is located directly by the main road of the region, we have opened up our farm shop there. This project has left the experimental stage already and is going quite well now. We will offer our farm shop also to other farmers as good chance to distribute their own products. Only a good stock of many sorts of farm goods guarantees a good profit here. We ourselves have about 6-8 kinds of vegetables to offer up to now, but we already consider to expand our business with other products like for example young seedlings ready to plant, various farming supplementaries and gears and probably also further processed goods coming from within our region. If the farming shop is doing well there's the possibility to put a permanent building there and open up our own farm restaurant. As soon as our animal breeding business is completely organized we will need a permanent location anyway to install cooling devies and other facilities which we need in order to fulfill all the hygienic norms and regulations from the government.
